When Plans don’t go according to Plan

As financial advisors and life coaches, we take your current circumstances, and customise a Personal Financial Plan based on your objectives and needs. Once this plan is conceptualised and drawn out, however, we do not simply leave you to your own devices.

We are only human, after all, and you will almost certainly experience unexpected challenges, unanticipated expenses and

testing times throughout your investments’ lifespan.

This is where our job becomes so much more than just “creating a

plan” for our clients, or popping their money into a fund. We are there to support and accommodate you, no matter what you are going through.

Life does seem to throw us curveballs at the most trying of times, causing major anxiety and stress - usually in already poor circumstances. How will you save for your retirement if you are retrenched? What happens when heavy rains cause your roof to fall in? (Hello, KZN!) How will a covid-19 related pay-cut affect your day-to-day spending patterns and budget? (Hello, worldwide pandemic!).

These can be very difficult questions to answer, especially if you are the person experiencing and dealing with all of the uneasiness. Oftentimes it feels like there is no way out - that’s what Finpas is here for.

We provide our clients with ongoing support and advice for all changes that will affect their finances - good or bad. Our clients are encouraged to update us about any significant life-changes and events that occur after the compilation of your personal financial portfolio.

In fact, we insist on at least a yearly meeting with each of our clients to conduct an Annual Review. This review helps us to catch up on the inevitable changes in our clients’ lives, to revise and edit their plans accordingly, and to ensure that their investments are performing at their most advantageous, with regards to the individuals’ needs.

Our advisors will then provide options for possible changes in your plan, and work with you to implement the best changes for YOU. It is most often out of necessity that we need to make these changes, and not one’s first choice.

We understand that this can be extremely frustrating and anxiety-inducing. This is why we assist you every step of the way, ensuring that you have understood and agreed to your portfolio changes, and that you feel secure in our final combined decision.
